Eczema, also known as atopic dermatitis, is a common chronic skin condition that causes dry, itchy, and inflamed skin. It affects people of all ages but is often diagnosed in childhood. Symptoms of eczema can vary depending on a person's skin tone and can include dry, cracked skin, itchiness, rashes, small raised bumps, oozing, and crusting. Eczema can appear anywhere on the body but is most common on the cheeks, outside of the elbows, and knees in infants and young children, and on the hands, feet, arms, and back of the knees in older children and adults .
